What we do

We represent the working people of our community in collective bargaining, grievance resolution, member services, and political advocacy. Our local was founded by workers, is governed by elected members, and exists to put member interests first — at the bargaining table, on the job site, and in the public square.

Your elected executive

Officers are members of the local elected by ballot to represent you in bargaining, governance, and day-to-day operations.

Milestones

1. 1956
   Local chartered

   Founding members ratified the first collective agreement.
2. 1972
   First strike action

   Six-week strike won the first pension provisions.
3. 1989
   Health & safety committee established
4. 2003
   Expanded to multi-employer bargaining
5. 2019
   Modernized member portal launched
6. 2026
   Joined YOUnified platform

   Members-first digital tools for elections, dispatch, communications, and benefits.

Each bargaining unit is governed by its own collective agreement and has its own grievance, dispatch, and steward structure where applicable.
